Spring Round-Up
Alright, I confess: it only took four months for me to forget I had a blog.
Some people manage years before it slips out of their mind. Maybe they have a child, or see some exciting groceries.
Some people don’t even make a week. They write their diary on steamed-up windowpanes, they watch the words dissolve away. For them, it is ephemeral.
I was basically a bit busy, and I couldn’t think how to start the entry. I was also on holiday but only slightly. Anyway, I’m back, and I come with bullet points!
My latest story Three Fortunes on Alcestis as Told by the Fraud Baeliss Shudal came out in Clarkesworld in February! People seem to like it, which I’m glad about. It was highlighted by both Tarvolon and Reactor in their monthly round-ups.
I’ve had some new acceptances recently - a new novelette for Clarkesworld called The Planet Has Two Names, and a short story with Beneath Ceaseless Skies, A Candle for Her Tireless Dead. One is about centipedes and kings, the other is about competing religious systems (but in a fun way). They both contain the phrase ‘polar fire’ and a journey to a mysterious city.
I’ve been shortlisted for ECO25: The Year’s Best Speculative Ecofiction for my story MALO MALO MALO MALO, about an executive who finds a strange tree in a forgotten land. I’ve got a real soft spot for this story (because it's entirely horrible). Very honoured to have it under consideration.
And finally, I have a new story out in two weeks! The Profitable Sentience of Household Goods will be coming out in the next Clarkesworld. It’s about a smart fridge and a light switch who are best friends and absolutely nothing bad happens at all.
