January Round-Up
It’s January 2026, and I have some news to round up! Which is very exciting, but I’m also ill, so thinking in paragraphs is hard.
(To the 800 words of story I wrote this afternoon: I’m sorry. I’ll fix you into paragraphs soon enough.)
Shall we do bullet points instead? Let’s do bullet points. And maybe have a herbal tea.
My first story of the year is out now with Cosmic Horror Monthly. It’s called House Cats and copies of the issue are available from the CHM site, as well as Amazon. I’d particularly recommend the print copy, which includes an internal illustration for my piece by Maxwell Marais.
The British Science Fiction Association Awards longlist has come out, and includes my story Four People I Need You to Kill Before the Dance Begins. I am really properly astonished to be included, especially in such great company. Thank you, lofty list compilers of the BSFA, if you are reading this.
My second story for the year is out next month in Clarkesworld. It’s called Three Fortunes on Alcestis as Told by the Fraud Baeliss Shudal and bits of it still make me cry. Yes, I have added extra words to that title since last time I mentioned it.
Look, I’ve always basically thought that paragraphs were overrated.
